Fabbriche Aperte – Open Plants 2019

A tour just done visiting the 4 chemical companies and the 2 production factories of Lapi Group: students from the high schools “Istituto Ferraris Brunelleschi” of Empoli and “Istituto Tecnico Cattaneo” of San Miniato were welcomed in the Lapi Group facilities at Castelfanco, Ponte a Egola and Empoli.

Figli di Guido Lapi opened again the doors of its plant on occasion of the 2019 edition of Fabbriche Aperte – Open Plants, the aim was “let students to see concretely and with their eyes what they’ve studied on books at school till now”. Girls and boys showed a lot of interest on the details and curiosities about vegetable tanned leather, sole leather and tannins, which were presented like a “tit for tat, and touch!”. And they also appreciated a lot (and polished off!) the breakfast we offered.

FIGLI DI GUIDO LAPI AT TANNING TECH 2019

Again, this year, our company attended to Tanning Tech 2019 in Milan, exhibiting together with our “historical” represented supplier of Mimosa (Mimosa Extract Company Ltd.).

Our “motto” of this edition has been “back to the basics”. Nowadays with a huge spread of fake news, few things are true and solid, and Tannins are among these. The Vegetable Tannins are truly natural, truly sustainable, truly unmatched. So, here is our syllogism:

    TANNINS DON’T LIE

WE ARE THE TANNINS IN ITALY

    → WE DON’T LIE

Three days of intensive job, that we hope fruitful…. See you on the next edition in 2020!

One part of FIGLI DI GUIDO LAPI’s staff has visited our firm partners of Tara in Peru during September 2017.

Exandal is the first producer of Tara and Tara gum in Peru.

Exandal is not only great in business, but also in human affairs. They have founded the charitable kindergarten “Happy Little Faces”, where the poor children of Lima receive the education, medical and nutritional assistance, they deserve, for free.

Figli di Guido Lapi is proud to contribute, even in a minimal part, to this project of high human and social value.

MARIO AND MARIO FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

In memory of the friendship of the two great entrepreneurs, Mario Marianelli and Mario Lapi, who were very fond of the Territory where they lived.

The Mario Marianelli Foundation together with the Lapi Group have brought forth an initiative dedicated to the two men.  This project gives the opportunity to a number of students – who chose to study leather tanning – to experience this line of work through one of the following programs:

Stage – Experience working in one of the Lapi Group companies while still in school.

Apprenticeship – Experience a paid educational apprenticeship in one of the tanneries in our territory.

    RESPECT…IN COLOR. LET’S PAINT LIFE

Organized in collaboration with ASL 11 Tuscany in Empoli and the Lions Club of San Miniato, the project will reach over 900 first year middle school students in our district.

The project will take place over a three year period and the first two schools to participate will be the G. Galilei Comprehensive Institute of Montopoli and the Buonarroti Comprehensive Institute in Ponte a Egola.  This project began in the school year 2016/2017.

The schools that will participate the following year will be the “Montanelli Petrarca” Comprehensive Institute of Fucecchio and the “F. Sacchetti” of San Miniato.  Those that will participate in the last year of the program will be the Comprehensive Institutes “Cristiano Banfi” of Santa Croce sull’Arno and the “Leonardo Da Vinci” of Castelfranco di Sotto.

Three two-hour classes will be led by professionals from the Comunicarea multi-disciplinary center of Santa Croce sull’Arno, who will be tasked with helping the students get close to and appreciate the artists and artwork of our territory, but most importantly, help them explore their own personal hidden capabilities and artistic talents.

It is an intense project in which art, colors, emotions, freedom of expression, respect for your neighbor, are only a few of the main components.

SKIN TANNED PLANT HAS BEWITCHED JAPAN

The event arranged by “Consorzio Pelle al vegetale conciata in Toscana” (Consortium Leather vegetable tanned in Tuscany) that took place in Tokyo on the 25 November 2016 was a great success!

The event was organized at the Italian Institute of Culture and it dealt with the issue of vegetable tanned leather as a true culture and not only as a simple article aimed to manufacture shoes or leather-goods. The aim was the one of letting the audience (more than 300 guests) be conscious about the fact that vegetable leather is an expression of Tuscany, the region that taught the Beauty to the entire world.

The speaker were Mr. Simone Remi, President of the Consortium and other two members of that Mr. Paolo Testi and our Stefano Pinori, Managing Director at Figli di Guido Lapi. At this event, Stefano was representing the tannins manufacturers. He presented the unique characteristics of tannins, their peculiarities and curiosities. Our “olfactory bar” was particularly appreciated by the public. It consisted in a sequence of wine glasses filled with different tannins. The guest had the opportunity to evaluate the shades of tannins, the real soul of Tuscan vegetable leather, from their eyes and from their nose.
